Maltese Yacht To Join The Challengers Of America’s Cup

Malta Atlus Challenge of the Royal Malta Yacht Club is going to take part in the thirty-sixth America’s Cup to be held in the year 2021. This is the first time that the yacht from the small Mediterranean archipelago is challenging the prestigious sailing trophy that is 167 years old.

The organizers of America’s Cup have said that Malta Altus has received the confirmation as the fourth challenger for Auld Mug to be held in Auckland in the year 2021 as Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron will be defending the title. Ultimately, only one crew is going to move forward to challenge the defender in best of thirteen series with the successful challengers being decided in the Prada Cup series that is newly launched. The other challengers who have confirmed for the 2021 America’s Cup are American Magic from the US, Italy’s Challenger of Record Luna Rossa, and INEOS Team UK from Britain.

Grant Dalton, the Emirates Team New Zealand of the Emirates team’s CEO of have said that they know a small team is going to face larger odds in one of the biggest challenges in sailing sports and they are wishing them luck. Emirates Team New Zealand have managed to win the coveted trophy in the year 2017 in Bermuda from Larry Ellison’s Oracle Team USA of Larry Ellison. The team principal of Malta Altus Challenge according to Pasquale Cataldi is that their goal is to do 3 editions of America’s Cup. In case someone wants to build a robust team, they will have to commit to three cycles of America’s Cup.

There are seven other potential challenges who have put forward the application to join in the contest prior the last week’s deadline and they are going to be processed within the new few weeks.
